Chinese herbal formulas

In Chinese medicine, herbal remedies are often given as a formula that is individually tailored to you. The formula consists of a combination of herbs that work together to enhance their healing properties.

Depending on your preference, the medicine can be administered as loose herbs or in powdered form. Both loose herbs and herbal powder are consumed as tea.

With loose herbs, you will need to boil them in water for some time and then strain the liquid for consumption. Herbal powder is quicker – just add it to hot water, let it dissolve and it’s ready to drink.

There are also over the counter herbal pills, similar to what you can purchase in a health food store.

Herbal vs conventional medicine

Chinese herbal medicine and conventional medicine offer two very different solution to healthcare, but together they can work in mutually beneficial ways.

In many chronic condition, such as eczema, taking prescription medicine and Chinese herbal medicine at the same time can be very effective – conventional medicine can offer a quick way to alleviate the itchiness and discomfort while Chinese herbal medicine will decrease excessive heat and inflammation internally.

Is herbal medicine safe?

When administered by a qualified practitioner, Chinese herbal medicine is perfectly safe and effective treatment for many chronic conditions and health problems. Dr. Wu has the highest qualification in the field of herbal medicine as well as over 30 years of experience in treating patients.

The quality of herbal medicine is also very important. At YUNJI Clinic, all medicine is sourced form certified suppliers and free form contaminants.

Much of modern medicine is derived form plant sources and plant based medicine can be very powerful and even harmful, if taken without supervision or in high doses. For this reasons, self medication is not advised.

Some herbal medicines may also interact with your prescription medication. For this reason, it is important to tell Dr. Wu, what other medication you are taking beforehand.
